Eski zamanlarda ben ‘crewel’ denilen elişi yapardım. Sözlüğüye baktım ve Türkçede ‘Gevşek Bükülmüş İplik’ karşılığı diye yazdı. Belki hanımlarda bu tur elişi için daha basıt bir izim var. Keşke yukardaki resim ben yaptığımı söyleyebilsem. Çok güzel değil mi!
Bu üç nesil nasıl belli oldu! Ufak değişikliklerle bir Anneanne, bir Anne ve bir kız ortaya çıktı. Saç için ne kullanıldığını bilmiyorum. Belki özel bir ipliği. Bundan ilham almamak mümkün değil. Basıt ama çok etkileyiçi.

Don’t you just love this piece of handwork! In times past I used to love to do crewel work. I think this work of art here most closely resembles crewel. I love how the three generations are so obvious and yet the differences in the women are so slight.
When I saw this work of art in person I looked very closely to see what the artist used for the hair. I think it must have been a very special floss. But perhaps it was real hair. I wonder if she used her own family’s hair to compose this work of art. Personally I really think it is stunning!

This was on display at Kent’s parents retirement home. They had people display works of art that they owned in their apartments. I could kick myself that I didn’t find out what was used for the hair. As I look at it now I really wonder if she used real hair like in times of old where they wove intricate patterns out of peoples hair. Maybe next time we go I can fine out. Thanks for your comments!
