Bir scrapbook sayfa yaptıkten sonra,’Eyvah! Yanlış yaptım!’ , hiç dedin mi? Korkma! Scrapbook sayfalarda yanlışlar düzeltmek kolay. Bugün benim yaptıklarımdan bir kaç örnek vermek istiyorum. Yükardaki sayfam ilk önce böyle yapmıştım.
‘F’ harfım yeşil iyidi ve ‘all’ harflarım kırmızı iyidi. Bütün sayfayı birtirdikten sonra gözlerim sadece ‘all’ gördüğünü fark ettim.
İlk önce gözlerim ‘Table in the Attic’ a bakmasını istiyorum.
Bunu düzeltmek için …..
Beyaz noktaları gri rengi Copic kalem ile boyadım. Şimdi gözüm ‘Table in the Attic’ kelimelere bakmak istiyor.
Her şey düzeltir!

Hi Friends!
Have you ever finished your scrapbook page , taken a second look at it and said, ‘Oh No! I’ve made a mistake!’ The good thing about scrapbooking is that you can just about always fix it! Here I show four pages where I made a major mistake but fixed it later. Can you see the mistakes I fıxed?
The first page originally had a green ‘F’ and red ‘all’ letters. On taking a second look I realized that my eye did not read ‘Fall’ but instead read ‘all’. That is because red is the color your eye is most attracted too. (There is a reason that STOP sign is red!) I did not have a red ‘F’ so I dipped all of my letters into red embossing powder. Now your eye really reads the word ‘FALL’.
My second page confuses your eye. It doesn’t know where to look. The most important thing on the page are the words. I put a small rind-stone next to the words. This helps your eye to realize that that is where to look first. Then I decided that the green ribbon in the upper right hand corner was just a distraction so I carefully pulled it off the paper. It left a little mark but your eye now does not even think to look there so it is not important.
My third example is a double page. Your eye wants to look a the lower right hand page. The white dots draw your attention there. I want you to look at the title ‘The Table in the Attic’. All I had to do was to color in the white dots with a grey copic marker and the problem is solved. Now when you look at the two pages your eye naturally goes to the title.
My last example is one where I wanted to use a particular embellishment (the large pink flower) and I didn’t realize it would end up looking like a ‘flower head’. I had pasted it down but felt it was worth the risk to pull it off. The paper ripped but I covered it up with a smaller set of flowers that makes you realize the photo ends and the lady in the photo (my Mom) doesn’t have a head at all. (After all this about ‘my story’ not so much about the picture!)
Sometimes I think we hold back because we will make a mistake and ruin something. Be Bold! Be Brave! Try something new! If you make a mistake you can almost always fix it!
Blessings,
Karen Hanım

Ne kadar faydalı bilgiler… Teşekkürler.
Sağ Ol! Çok teşekkürler. Beni mutlu ettin.
I visited your site for the first time today and found it very interesting. I am English and live in turkey in the Antalya area. I must bring all my requirments at the moment from England which is very costly. Is there somewhere I can buy card etc. near here, as yet I haven’t found anywhere and if I use Internet sites they are charging me £100 delivery!! I want to start scrapbooking I , have gathered every thing together of my trip to Australia last year stickers embelishments photos but am afraid to start. Where do you start. I also want to do a scrapbook of my life ,as my children live in australia and South Africa and I’m afraid my History and that of my ancesters will be lost and forgotten soon. Thankyou again Linda.
Dear Linda,
Where do I start?? The best plain colored card stock here is the Canzon brand. You can ask a kirtasiye near by if they can order some for you.
If you go to a kirtasiye or art store that caters to art students here in Turkey you will have much better luck finding materials suitable for scrapbooking.
I have the same problem buying materials here. I usually bring mine from the States in my suitcase.
My advice on starting is to just start. First decide on where you will keep your pages. That will give you the size you will do your pages in for a while.
My first books were really simple but they are still some of my favorite. A couple of my tried an true “musts” are:
1. Match colored paper to your photos first. Try your photos on different colors of paper. You will be amazed at the difference in makes in how they look.
2. Write out what you want to say on your page first! This often results in a much better title .
3. Don’t skimp on the journaling. This is important because what you really want to do is tell your story. Sometimes a title and a picture are enough but journaling even if it is on the back ot the page will help even ourselves(!) remember in the years to come.
4. Don’t use cheap paper. No matter how good your design is it will never look great if you use poor materials.
Hope that helps you get started!
